— Divided, Omega.
Liang Chi’s pupils narrowed as he covered the results on the instrument with his hand. He turned to the medical staff beside him and said, “You all can go about your business; I can handle this alone.”
The medical staff responded, “Ah, but…”
They glanced at Ye Lingyuan inside the room, feeling an inexplicable sense of oppression despite the highest level of safety glass separating them.
“Just be careful yourself.”
Once everyone left and the door closed, Liang Chi said, “Ye Lingyuan, I need you to listen to me. Although you may find it hard to believe, according to the blood test results, you have differentiated into an Omega.”
Ye Lingyuan looked up, intensely staring at him, “What nonsense are you talking about?”
Liang Chi turned on the display screen to show him the results. “You can feel it too, right? This is a secondary differentiation. Cases like this are extremely rare; I have never treated one before.”
Liang Chi’s words caught Ye Lingyuan off guard; it was rare for him to feel disbelief.
Omega.
Secondary differentiation.
He couldn’t process this information.
Waves of heat surged through his body, hitting his nerves with increasing intensity.
Ye Lingyuan arched his back, biting his lip tightly to endure, reopening the wounds on his lips and causing them to bleed profusely.
It felt as if countless insects were gnawing at him, each nerve being pulled in different directions, while the delicate skin at the back of his neck burned as if molten lava were coursing through it.
His internal organs felt like they were being grilled, and each breath came with the unbearable strain of a racing heart.
He didn’t know what was happening.
It was as if something was silently changing, a bottomless pit of desire longing for something to calm him down.
In the midst of his blurred consciousness, he rasped with determination, “Give me a shot of anesthesia.”
“No, you cannot use any medication right now. The first heat period for an Omega is the most vulnerable time, and medication could lead to severe aftereffects.”
Normally, an Omega begins to differentiate at 16 years of age and will not go past 18.
Yet Ye Lingyuan’s situation was far too special.
Not to mention he had originally been an Alpha, the longer it takes for an Omega to differentiate, the greater the pain they must endure. Many Omega who differentiate at 18 faint from the pain.
Ye Lingyuan was an astounding eight years late, and the only reason he had held on until now was due to a terrifyingly strong willpower.
But the situation was grim.
Liang Chi frowned; the heat period generally lasts around three days.
This was not something that could just be solved with willpower.
If he exhausted himself too much, he could die.
“Don’t force yourself,” Liang Chi said, “I’ll input your pheromones into the matching database. As long as there’s a high-matching Alpha available, it can alleviate your suffering.”
“I don’t need it.” Ye Lingyuan’s eyes glinted with fierce determination. “Liang Chi, I warn you, I don’t want any Alpha marking.”
Liang Chi grew anxious. “Even at this point, you’re still putting on a brave face? Just endure this phase, and then we can figure things out later—”
Suddenly, there was a loud crash.
Fine cracks appeared on the glass, and Ye Lingyuan’s hands were smeared with blood. “Even without the marking, I can pull through.”
In that moment, Liang Chi forgot to breathe from shock.
If he hadn’t obtained the results himself, he would have nearly doubted that someone at the pinnacle of Alpha could undergo a secondary differentiation into an Omega?
Even he found it hard to believe.
But this was the reality of what had happened, and he could not deny it.
Ye Lingyuan stared at the bleeding wound on his hand.
The pain radiating from his hand scattered some of the emptiness and heat he felt.
His emotions teetered on the brink of losing control as he hoarsely whispered, “Give me a knife.”
Liang Chi’s heart sank. “What do you intend to do?”
Ye Lingyuan replied, “To treat myself.”
Liang Chi’s realization hit him, and he shouted, “How are you going to treat yourself? By self-harming with a knife? Ye Lingyuan! Have you gone mad?! It’s just a temporary marking!”
Ye Lingyuan slowly raised his head, revealing the chilling ruthlessness in his eyes, emotions flooding him that surpassed mere human feelings, more akin to that of a wild beast.
“If you dare let someone come in, I’ll ensure he leaves horizontally.”
Liang Chi felt a chill run down his spine from his gaze. “You’re utterly unreasonable!”
He slammed the door as he left.
This guy is an Omega, Liang Chi rubbed his aching temples. An Omega who could punch an Alpha to death with a single blow?
He glanced at the remaining samples in his hand as he walked toward the laboratory.
Although Ye Lingyuan had rejected being matched, Liang Chi couldn’t truly heed his words.
He was the patient and was completely unaware of the severity of what he was doing.
Liang Chi at least had to guarantee Ye Lingyuan’s safety; if something happened, a matching Alpha on-site could provide temporary relief.
Liang Chi placed the remaining blood sample into the machine.
It would filter based on Ye Lingyuan’s pheromones among the Alpha already in the matching database.
The higher the match percentage, the greater the compatibility on all fronts.
The machine filtered for a long time before finally displaying a name.
Lu Yiming, match percentage 39%.
It didn’t even reach the minimum eligibility threshold.
Liang Chi frowned.
This was the first time he encountered such a situation; previous matching Omegas had at least several with over 60 as a threshold.
But there were no other options available now.
Liang Chi contacted this Alpha named Lu Yiming based on the personal information registered in the matching center.
Lu Yiming was currently overwhelmed due to the cancellation of the collaboration with the Tong family.
Mr. Lu had just finished a communication with a business partner, his demeanor submissive, and then broke into a tirade, “These opportunistic scoundrels had better watch out when I make my comeback!”
He turned to see Lu Yiming.
An inexplicable surge of anger flared within him, just as Lu Yiming’s light brain chimed in.
